A Local Company Grows
By William Stork
NEW YORK CITY-In a surprise move the Wertz-Hodes Consortium (WHC) has announced plans to expand by two members effective immediately. The official change will take place some time in early February date TBD. The move has been approved by both parent companies (Hodes, HDZ and Wertz, BAH) whose support will be required to complete this expansion.
According to Chief Technical Officer Brooke-Hodes Wertz the logistics have been worked out and a specific time line has been established. The process will be split among three equal periods called “trimesters”, the first of which will expire today. “The second trimester is the most exciting,” said Brooke. “It’s when most of the development will take place. Our current situation should run close to normal during this period as preparations are made. The third trimester will be mostly a waiting game. Ultimately it will be up to our new members when they decide to join. To be truthful, they’re very comfortable where they are right now.”
The current Chief Financial Officer, Chris Wertz who has held the position tenuously for more than 10 months, said the hardest thing about the expansion will be working out the numbers. He said, “Ultimately it will come down to what the minimum earnings will have to be to support this type of move.” When asked if the company will relocate, Wertz was a bit evasive, “We’re considering our options right now.” A source close to the deal has said that they might be investigating a move to Brooklyn or even New Jersey.
The reason for a change at this time can be explained as the next logical step in a flourishing business. Brooke said, “We work well together and thought we could provide the type of leadership that could help this organization become a family.”
However, the transition will not be easy. The new additions will lack any “real world” experience and the WHC will be leaning heavily on colleagues to “baby-sit” the new members.
They are not discouraged by the challenge. They added, “We really feel doubly blessed to be able to make this kind of decision right now.”
